Vegetarian Weight Loss

Many people think that when it comes to losing weight, vegetarians have it easy. I beg to differ. Many vegetarian products have equal, if not more, amount of oil and other components which definitely add extra calories. If not careful, a person can become overweight on a vegetarian diet itself. However, for a vegetarian, the plan to lose weight is quite simple. Just cut down on your oil and junk foods and you are already on your way to reducing weight.

But even that is easier said than done. To help such vegetarians, here is a list of do’s and don’ts, which will guide any vegetarian to help shed those extra kilos.

To begin with, monitor your junk food intake and anything more than the bare minimum must be restricted. Fast foods are generally high in calories and if you eat a lot of burgers or pizzas you are bound to becoming overweight. Cut down on these foods and replace them with low calories items like yoghurt and toned milk. Even your sugar consumption must be monitored. Another thing that you must avoid is coffee and liquor. They reduce the absorption of vital nutrients thus causing more harm than good. Substitutes like juices or milk are better.

Stock up on proteins. These are your building blocks and will help in enhancing your health. Also, increase the intake of dietary fibers. Roughage is special as it reduces the absorption of oils and also gives you the feeling of fullness after a meal without addition of too many calories.

Don’t hesitate to take supplements of trace minerals or vitamins as well. These will definitely help in making you feel healthier without adding on calories. Also, consumption of seeds as well as nuts is a good idea. Since they contain omega 3 essential fatty acids, they help in many metabolic functions of the body.

Lastly, there’s no getting away from exercising. Routine exercising will increase your stamina as well as keep your body functions in top shape.
